Neutral contemporary woven art

About

I am a weaver and dyer, and create landscape inspired woven art combined with embroidery, and highly-textured contemporary framed pieces.

My work is drawn from the natural world around me. I want to capture the serenity and beauty of nature and landscapes and infuse the emotions they evoke into my weavings. I love the slow and intentional process of being immersed in weaving.

I adore using natural, sustainable and recycled materials, such as wool, silk, cotton, recycled fabric strips and alpaca. I use a mix of modern and traditional weaving techniques to create unique and contemporary pieces of art.

Hand-dying my own yarns for weaving landscapes also gives me such an breadth of hues for each piece, and creates the delicious tonal variations that really help the weavings come alive. It really is like painting with yarn!

It is such a privilege to see something I have made in its new home - please send me photos! I really hope my work make your heart sing and nourishes your soul as it does mine…

Inspirations – here are (just!) a few of my favourite things...

  • the beach, the sea, driftwood, rocks and huge chalky cliffs

  • rolling hills covered in heather and bracken, craggy hill tops and dry stone walls

  • the natural textures and striations of rock formations – the ex-caver in me, I suspect!

  • organic textures such as lichens, and banks of plants and flowers

…and mountains of scrumptious yarns in beautiful textures and colours!
